That the new JAK inhibitor drug has been approved for use?

Anyone know more?

I'm off to see the rheummies soon and I want lots of info for them to take to the funding board.

ThanksSmile

I've not heard this news but fingers crossed for you Jenni that it has been approved. It certainly looks a promising treatment, with less side effects, I will ask my rheumy at the end of the month if he has any news. Also going to try and find out about the BIP (immunogloblin binding protein) that is being trialled.
Hope you can get the funding for the JAKs.

Best wishes
Rebecca

Not sure is it tofacitinib ? rheumy told me there are a few 'nibs' being looked at as opposed to 'mabs' but didn't say if they'd been approved. Interestingly my RA was controlled for 18 months until recently by 'Imatinib' a drug given for a completely different purpose, I think thats also a kinase that binds in the same way. Fingers cross that funding becomes approved for you to try it.
Best wishes

This new drug has not been approved in Europe due to worries over serious side effects. see this link
